Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Monday, 2009-November-30

If you've been looking for a replacement or spare wheel for your hybrid, road, or mountain bike, we've got great news for you. We have a slough of used wheels on sale from $20! All used wheels are $20, or $25-35 if they have a tire, gear cluster, or both -In 700c, 26", and 27" standards. We've got both modern wheels and a few vintage gems:
...Such as a Phil Wood freehub wheel... (ok, we're cutting this hub out and it's on sale or $150, but all the other wheels are cheap as can be...)

...And a Suzue front wheel, 24" road standard with 1 1/4" tire.

We still have several on-sale frames, as well as plenty of items in our $5 and up sale bins. There are many great deals happening in the shop. We've got just what you need for holiday shopping, winter build projects, and commuting needs. Ask our sales staff what we've got in stock and on sale!
Frame Sale

We're still working on clearing out the basement. Our bin sale is still happening, and we've also found a few other things to add to the event. The following frames and framesets are currently on sale to be sold as is:

Schwinn Le Tour - 63 cm center to center, 57 cm top tube. It's made of steel, designed for 27" wheels, with threaded fork. Tensionable dropouts for single speed conversion. $30

Hamilton steel TT frame - 56 cm center to center, 55 cm top tube. Designed to take dual 24" wheels. $20.

Giant aluminum road frame - 55.5 cm center to center, 57 cm top tube. In like new condition, handmade in USA! $75

Nishiki steel pursuit frame - 52 cm center to center, 53 cm virtual top tube. Tensionable dropouts for single speed/fixed gear conversion. Fork fits 24" wheel, but frame is designed for 700c. $30.

Curious about getting 27" or 24" wheels? Wonder no more! We can make custom built wheels for 27" or 24" road standards (and plenty of others, for that matter). We charge just $30 labor per build plus the cost of parts. If you're wondering who makes 24" road rims, ask us! We're also more than happy to help you build these frames up to be as custom as you want. For $100 and less, these frames are a great start to having a very unique and very fun ride.
New Window Display
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Friday, 2009-November-20

Our front display is currently featuring a project we finished just this week: a WWII military bike. This amazing bike is a single speed, complete with rim brakes, cruiser bar, and wing-nut couplers on the frame! After restoring the wheels and tires, we put on a Brooks B-17 standard saddle, Brooks tool bag, and a set of Brooks pannier bags for the rear rack. The bike itself is not for sale, but the Brooks accessories certainly are. Although this bike is not safely rideable (as the brakes barely clinch) a bicycle this old (and even older!) can be fully overhauled and restored. If you have an old bike found in an attic or basement, bring it on by for a free quote on an overhaul. You never know - what may seem like an old fashioned clunker may actually have potential to become an elegant, classic ride.
Basement Sale
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Sunday, 2009-November-15

During the rain yesterday we unearthed a few boxes of old stock from the basement, all of which is now on sale. The photo above shows a few highlights - road and mountain clipless shoes by Vittoria and Diadora for half-off, Ortleib handlebar and basket bags for $9.95, and a variety of other cycling accessories. We even have frame pumps that are perfect for your steel road frames! Everything's priced low so we get it all out of our hands and into yours.
Pake C'Mute window display
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Saturday, 2009-November-14

We received a large shipment from Merry Sales Co. this past week, filled with a lot of new product. In the main window we have a Pake C'Mute frameset ($359.95). The frame, which is designed to be built up either multi or single speed, comes complete with brazed on cable guides and front/rear rack mounts. It's currently decked out with a set of Basil pannier bags ($200), a rear Woody rack ($69.95), and a front rack by Nitto (Nitto Campee, $269.95) both of which are for sale separately from the frame. We had a matching Nitto rear rack as well, but it already sold! Another is on the way.

Our rear display case is chock-full of new road riding and commuting supplies. Aside from the Soma front basket and leather Cardiff saddle, we have a pair of Suzue Classica road hubs, handlebars by Soma and Nitto, and a few Soma woodie tools for style. There are too many awesome things than are practical to list, so swing by the shop to take a gander.
Brooks NACCC 2009 Saddle
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Thursday, 2009-November-12

Today we received a large shipment of Brooks products. Not only did we restock the usual saddles, but we also purchased the 2009 NACCC commemorative saddle! This limited edition (60/250) red Race Team saddle has the NACCC logo embossed on the top. Both Cambridge Bicycle and Superb were checkpoints during the race, so we're proud to have this saddle in stock.

Other new arrivals include a pair of Barbican sling bags, Brick Lane panniers, saddle bags, toe clips/straps, and other bicycle accoutrements from Brooks. Come check out our new roadie and commuting displays!
Peterboro Baskets
Posted by Cambridgebicycle.com Blog Admin   •   Tuesday, 2009-November-03

As soon as UPS dropped off the box from Peterboro Baskets, our employee Ling became instantly excited. Baskets are a great addition to almost any bicycle, but wired steel isn't for everyone. These baskets can carry up to 60 lbs, with an aesthetic to match even the classiest of bicycles. Made of high-strength ash wood, genuine leather straps, zinc-coated buckles, and a water-resistant vinyl interior, Peterboro Baskets (made in Peterboro, New Hampshire) are a handsome edition to any bicycle. The blue one pictured is $50-- a price that can't be beat for such quality craftsmanship!
