Single Speed

Thinking of switching to single-speed?

For two reasons, single-speed and fixed-gear bicycles produce less drag on the drivetrain and better chain tension compared to multi-gear bikes:

  • no derailleur mechanism drag vs. multi-speed bicycles
  • chainring and cog has no ramps and pins

Mountain bicycles, road bicycles, cyclocross bicycles, and hybrid bicycles can be made as or changed into single-speed. Single speeds designed for trail riding ("single-speed mountain bike"), have a relatively low, or "easy", gear ratio. Single speed bicycles designed for road riding have higher, or "faster", gear ratio.

Questions? We understand. Whether you are just thinking about going single-speed, or you are an advanced single-speed bicycle enthusiast with highly technical questions or needs, just call or stop in - we are here to help!
